The New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts (NHBCA) and the Institute of Art & Design at New England College (IAD-NEC) in Manchester collaborated to produce an augmented reality exhibition. Supported by a grant from the TD Charitable Foundation, the nonprofit NHBCA partnered with the IAD-NEC to create an immersive augmented reality experience that showcased the school’s art programs and students' original artwork in a virtual gallery. The exhibition, titled New Frontiers in Art, explored the intrinsic value of the arts in conveying our most basic human experiences and innovative ideas. The featured artworks often reflected on how the world is changing—socially, environmentally, geopolitically, and technologically.
For this exhibition, the NHBCA’s developers created 3-D digital models of original artworks by IAD-NEC students, alumni, and faculty, rendering them in augmented reality. This experience allowed people of all ages and backgrounds to interact with the art using mobile devices, offering a unique way to engage with creative expression
